No! The Hive does not charge nannies to work with the agency, but we do require our nannies to be professionally vetted by our staff.
At The Hive, we take the time to personally screen each nanny that applies to work with our agency. All candidates are pre-approved through a general background check, references, and professional vetting to ensure they are up to our standards.
To put it simply, we take the time to make sure everybody involved in this process is feeling happy and heard. The Hive sets itself apart by not only advocating for the families that hire us, but the nannies who choose to work within our system. When nannies and families both feel heard and supported, we are able to make more long-lasting connections than some of our competitors.
While you could find a nanny using your own resources, it’s likely going to be a long, stressful process. Often times, hiring a nanny can feel like another full-time job! By hiring an agency, you are lifting this burden from your shoulders and allowing an agency to do the heavy lifting. You simply have to sit back and decide who you’d like to interview/hire. Additionally, first-time parents or parents who have never employed a nanny, are often unaware of the laws and industry standards within the nanny community. Hiring an agency to walk your family through the basics of employing a nanny can be extremely beneficial, especially when it comes to making sure no laws are being broken.
Great question! We have found ourselves relying more on virtual meetings and phone calls more than we previously had been. This means, in order to ensure we are not putting our candidates or clients at risk, we will typically recommend virtual interviews with nannies until your family has narrowed down their search a bit. Additionally, we are only doing shadow days and in-home walk-throughs upon request. Once your family has decided to meet a nanny in person, it is up you what requirements you would like to place on the candidate (ie: “Please wear a mask during this interview”, “Please remove your shoes outside the door”, “Please sanitize your hands upon entrance”, etc.). We have a COVID-19 clause in our updated contract that families can opt into or out of upon hiring your nanny.
